General description of apartment Casa Isa

Casa Isa is located high above the town of Praiano and is part of the oldest most charming buildings in the village of Vettica di Praiano. The building was built in the XVII century and was home to nobility. It dominated the landscape above the bay and the village with stunning 180° uninterrupted views over Capri, the Island of Li Galli and Positano.
The entrance of Casa Isa is an impressive stone archway over two metres high with double wooden doors and above the archway you will see the date 1769 the year that this part of the building was built. You enter directly into an open plan design which consists of the living room, kitchen and dining area. The living room has a sofa and armchair, antique coffee table, TV cabinet and rustic chest. This room also has a wood fire stove, which is a very effective and only heat source in winter. There is a large kitchen and dining area with a wooden dining table and 6 chairs. The kitchen is fully equipped with crockery and cutlery for six guests, there is a large gas oven with 5 gas top burners, fridge-freezer, integrated dishwasher, microwave oven, toaster and electric kettle. The kitchen has direct access to the large private terrace with teak outdoor table and chairs and two sun loungers.
The house has three bedrooms, on the ground floor there is the master bedroom with double bed, wardrobe and ample dresser drawers. There are double doors that open out onto the terrace. Also on the ground floor is the main bathroom with a combined shower and small bathtub, vanity, WC, bidet and electric towel heater. On the 1st floor there are two bedrooms, the first bedroom has a single bed and dresser draws and wardrobe, the second bedroom twin single beds with dresser draws and a wardrobe. There is also a second bathroom with a combined shower/bathtub, vanity, WC and bidet.
The property has been recently restored and has been fitted with double glazing and flyscreens on all the windows and external doors, the result being that the house stays cool in summer and warm in winter making it an ideal all year round holiday destination.
If you are arriving by car you can park on the main road or if you prefer you can book a private parking space in the car park not far from Casa Isa. Once you have parked your car, Casa Isa can be accessed on foot by walking about 100 metres from the main road, (a little less from the private car park) then down a few steps (15 to be precise), that lead to the front door.
Alternatively, there is the main bus service run by SITA, which will take you along the coastal road to the centre of Praiano, from there you can board a local bus service called Flavio Gioia that will take you up above the village and stop along the road not far from Casa Isa. This local service only runs between Positano and Praiano in a continuous loop during the day and until late at night.
There is a grocery store that is about 10 minute walk to get to, or for those who want to experience what life was like before the convenience of roads, you can use the ancient stairs nearby, all 230 of them and they will take you down to the town centre to various stores, restaurants the local bar and post office.

A car can be useful but not necessary.
Free parking in the area on the street sides. On request possibility to get a reserved parking area within 100 meters from the apartment, at euro 10 per day (to be reserved in advance). If you wish to use ADSL Internet, we can provide you an Internet UMTS USB Stick at the cost of Euro 5 per day (minim rental cost is Euro 30).

Distances

Location

The apartment is in the high part of Praiano. The restaurants, bars and beach are within walking distance, in about 10 minutes. Both, Positano and Amalfi can be reached by bus or car in 15 minutes.

Parking and accessibility

The apartment is accessible by a short flight of steps (circa 15 steps) plus walking about 100 meters by foot
It is located on the top floor. Parking is possible for free on the communal streel at 300 metres far or, depending on the availability, at a close-by private parking area at Euro 10 per day (needs to be booked in advance).

Arriving in Praiano

By car, from the airport of Naples use the A3 Salerno Reggio Calabria to Castellammare di Stabia. At the exit, don't turn right, but keep on going straight towards Sorrento. On the way to Sorrento, once in Meta turn left to Positano and Amalfi. Praiano is about 5 kms after Positano. Our usual meeting point will be the Bar Del Sole, located in the centre of the village.

Stunning views from this spacious and modern villa. The steps to the village are a bit daunting, but the view is spectacular and Domenico is a good host. Modern kitchen with all the amenities makes it a comfortable place for families.

We have been in Praiano in Casa Isa for two weeks and we have never enjoyed a holiday more. We are honestly very sad to leave Italy and The Amalfi Coast. Domenico and the staff have been wonderful, the service has been perfect and the house has been truly a home for us. We will certainly be back to the Amalfi Coast and this house again.

We are a mature couple from Perth, Western Australia that had the good fortune to stay at Casa Isa in early October 2011. We absolutely loved Casa Isa and Praiano which is a lot quieter than Positano and Amalfi. We found Amalfi Coast Rental (Dominic) excellent to deal with and appreciated the information that he provided which we used a lot during the week that we stayed there. The apartment has spectacular views of the coast including Capri and we spent a lot of our time on the private outdoor area alternating between having cups of coffee and glasses of wine. The unit had an exceptional kitchen and overall is well fitted out with all luxuries of home. We loved the location including the 240 stairs required to descend into the village as we had really earn't that glass of wine when we got back to the apartment. It is a steep climb though and there are other options along the roads if you prefer. Praiano is a lovely place and we really enjoyed being with the local community. We will be back one day for sure. First and foremost, Sergio the owner, Domenico and Luisa from the agency were very helpful and responsive, thank you! This apartment was primarily chosen for its terrace and view, and what a terrace and view we got! If only for those 2 reasons, we would strongly recommend Casa Isa. The apartment was spic n’ span spotless, formidably equipped and with very modern IKEA Mediterranean style, which is also of great value. The very convenient 2 bathroom/3 bedroom apartment is situated in the quiet high-end of Praiano, with not much sound heard at any time of day. The only problem “for us” with this apartment was that it wasn't in the right city as it should have been in Amalfi or Positano, with various possibilities of entertainment! Praiano is not that (very suitable) city for after dinner strolls, drinks or entertainment. The 250 stairs, from top to bottom and back up again, makes going for a spontaneous walk and/or gelato at 10 PM a very gutsy endeavour. Of course there is a bus to get you up most of the hill, but the schedules in Italy are as punctual as knowing where a hurricane will hit! All in all, Praiano’s Casa Isa is a great place to stay, for a quiet and relaxing vacation. But I strongly recommend Casa Isa for its great comfort and spectacular views.

great apartment with beautiful views. The only downside is that there was no air conditioning or fan, so the bedrooms get quite hot. Its difficult to leave the bedroom doors open at night due to the noise and the sunlight in the morning waking you up early, so a fan at least would be nice.

It is a very nice and high standard appartment with a beautifull view from the terrace. We would have liked a parasol which could be moved around on the terrace. The two beds on the first floor have seen better days, i.e. the springs can be felt quite clearly (we are quite normal in size!!).
