General description of apartment Basilius

The apartment Basilius is conveniently located in the heart of Amalfi (about 90 steps from the road level) and among many wonderful attractions. Apartment Basilius is a new furnished property, with all modern comfort. Service of transportation for luggage free of charge. The apartment, well-furnished, is composed of one living-room with double sofa bed, fitted kitchen with microwave and fridge, bathroom with Jacuzzi shower, double bedroom and terrace well-equipped with table, chairs and electric awning. From the terrace you can admire the skyline of Amalfi ( the sea, the bell tower of the famous St Andrea church and the surrounding mountains that are dotted with houses). Apartment Basilius is situated inside the area of the San Basilio convent. The San Basilio convent was founded in the XI th cent. outside the walls of the town, in a district called Casamare. It was built for noble Amalfi women and was under the protection of the order of St. Benedict. Over the years the cells of the nuns have been transformed into small apartments. The little church of St Basilio remains as a reminder of its ancient history, and every year on the 14th of June the saint's day is celebrated by the local people. In one wing there are small flats which give onto a long corridor which retains its monastic atmosphere. Very close to the self catering apartment the Valley of the Mills, where you can find the Paper Museum. This area, crossed by the Canneto River, and that of the nearby Valle delle Ferriere, a charming natural environment, constitute a Natural Biogenetic Reserve. The ascent from Amalfi is tiring but fascinating. The remains of the mills that brought the water to the paper workshops are discovered, and the walk in natures that hides secret charms, is rewarded with springs and waterfalls, and glimpses of the sea between the lush Mediterranean scrub.

We suggest to come in Amalfi without car. The parking is very difficult in the town of Amalfi and you can use public transportation to reach the major towns of the Amalfi coast.

We can organize a taxi trasfer directly from the airport to the location.

Arriving in Amalfi

Take Autostrada (highway) A3 as if you were going to Salerno/Vietri. Exit at Castellammare di Stabia. Drive down a long straight road, then after that, through a tunnel. At the exit of this first tunnel, go right to Gragnano-Agerola and follow the signs to Amalfi. After this turn, you will be at the beginning of the town of Gragnano: do not enter it, take a right turn towards Agerola. You will go through the towns of Pimonte, then Agerola, then Furore, Conca dei Marini, where there is a famous cloister. Here, pay attention to these instructions: after this cloister in Conca you will go through a tunnel, then after about 1 km, after some bends you will arrive at an intersection to Pogerola/Amalfi about 1 km before the main coast road. Keep on going towards the coastal road. Then turn right to Amalfi. In the centre of Amalfi, near the taxi stand, there is some space for parking the car for some minutes. That is where you will meet our colleague.
